Green Paperboard Pallets are Replacing Wood Pallets
69Introduction to Paperboard Pallets
PBPallets, a division of North Geogia Paperboard, located in Chatsworth, GA, has introduced a new totally recyclable pallet to the United States. They are manufactured with a system that was developed years ago using Scandinavian Minimalist Functional Technology. PBPallets brings this advanced paperboard pallet to you in Global partnership with Eltete TPM Ltd of Finland
The system has thrived in Europe and throughout other parts of the world for years. Only now has this ingenious simple solution reached the states. Although paper material is used to make this pallet, this is not a corrugated pallet or paper pallet as you may know it. Made of high compression paperboard, this pallet has incredible strength.
These new earth friendly pallets have many advantages over wood pallets:
- STONGER than Wood Pallets - Holding up to 10 TONS !
- LIGHTER than Wood Pallets - Saving on shipping cost
- THINNER than wood Pallets - Saving on shipping and storage space
- Hassle-Free Export - Excepted in all countries
- Meet IPPC requirements
- Meet ISPM 15 trade regulations (click for 2009 Revision in PDF format)
- No Fumigation is required
- 100% Recycled Material Construction
- 100% Recyclable - No Landfill Debris
How Paperboard Pallets are made
Though very simple in its construction and usage it will change the way you do business. No more splinters, storage, shipping and disposal problems of wood pallets. PBPallets are easy to use, ready for export and 100% Recycled, Recyclable & Earth Sustainable!
PBPallets' technology is hidden within each PBRunner.
Each pallet runner contains vertical high compression paperboard cylinders.
The runners can be placed in different configurations depending on your needs.
One PBRunner can support more than a ton of static weight!
They are offered in a variety of lengths for Ease of Use.
PBRunners are available with or without extra strength double face tape for attaching to your existing boxes. They may be ordered from several stock sizes or made to your own specified length.
The cylinders, runners, wrap, basically everything is constructed from high compression pressed paperboard. This type of paperboard is made from many layers of brown paper, pressed together with natural glues. The top platform can be corrugated by customer request. However, the standard pallet top is made from high compression paperboard which is far stronger than corrugated paperboard.
Even the optional paperboard top is not your "cardboard box" type of paperboard. It is a thick material constructed of compressed paperboard on the outside and a heavy duty paperboard flute on the inside.

Many Ports and landfills are Closing to Wood Pallets
From a shipping standpoint, export and domestic ports are slowly closing to wood pallets by mandated law due to insect infestation. Shortage of wood, fuel cost, weight to transport, landfills closing to wood pallets, and the environmental push for green products, are all causing a huge change to the pallet industry.
With all the concern about global warming, the abuse of our resources, saving the trees, concern about the ozone layer, etc. , consumers like to see that a company is doing their part in saving our planet. "Green" is not just the "buzz" these days, it is our future!
Excellent Floor Ready Displays
Due to their light weight and ease of handling, PBpallets are perfect for floor ready displays. All components are available in customized sizes to fit your store or showroom needs.
The PBPallet can go straight from the loading dock to the sales floor! Being made from %100 percent paperboard, they will not scratch or otherwise damage the floor. This is especially suitable for "warehouse" shopping, which is very popular with consumers these days.
When the contents of the pallet are empty, due to it's light weight, the pallet can easily be removed by hand and re-used, or recycled with cardboard materials. The recyclable material can then be sold, rather than incurring a return or removal expense, as is often the case with wood pallets and plastic pallets.

What a fabulous green idea. I had never heard of this, so thanks for sharing with us all.
I see many companies who still toss their broken plastic pallets
into dumpster thinking they are of no use. One pallet is equal to
hundreds of milk jugs or water bottles. This plastic will never
decompose and they take up a lot of space in landfills. A better
solution is to contact a pallet company to recycle these items
even if they're broken. These plastic pallets can be melted down
to create other products.

I think this is a great idea. Saving money on freight shipping, tree cutting, and fuel cost will put money back in the pockets of the everyday people. It's definitely GREEN!
